Parents are the Best Safeguard Against Misinformation

Even the best media literacy training and safeguards don’t take away the responsibility you have to stand by your child. Whether you serve as a sounding board as your child talks through their feelings, or act as a teacher as they learn how to navigate the media terrain, your child will benefit from unwavering support. There are tools available, but do not assume they are foolproof. Built-in parental controls aren’t perfect — they may change, glitch, or let inappropriate content slip through the cracks. If and when that happens, let your child know they can always come to you.
