From Hero to Hypocrite (and Back Again)

“Get a mentor” is great advice when you’re building a career, and it works during the teen years, too. Your child looks closely at the adults in their life for people to model themselves after, and sometimes judges them through the lens of their idealism. Mom or Dad can be called a hero one minute and a hypocrite in the next breath. Don’t let that word –– or their judgement –– push you away. They’re just trying to figure out the world and their place in it. So stay the course, mentor, and keep being someone your teen can look up to.
