Teen Milestone: Showing Compassion

We mean it when we say that teens can save the world. Noticing inequity in the world and having intense compassion for other people is a hallmark of the teen years. As a parent, you can use this milestone to fuel your teen’s connection to the world (and people!) around them. Help them find volunteer positions, encourage them to reach out to classmates, and loop them into any community work you’re doing to make it a family affair. Fan the flames of their compassion and they’ll bring it with them into adulthood as they go into the world.
