Teen Milestone: Learning from a Mistake

Your teen messed up—congratulations! Learning from mistakes so they don’t repeat them is an important teen milestone. Whether it’s scraping the side of the car as they learn to drive, failing a test they forgot to study for, or accidentally spilling their friend’s secrets, the teen years (and, come to think of it, the adult years, too) have plenty of opportunities to mess up and learn from the mistake. Learning to apologize and use that remorse to fuel real change is an essential part of growing up. Rejoice when your teen reaches this important milestone.
