Self-Care Is the Key to Good Parenting

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths. It’s making the mindful choice to carve out time for things that help you recharge, and it’s a key element of good parenting. You can’t be your teen’s guide when you’re depleted, so recharge with a mini vacation––without leaving home. Close your eyes and visualize a place that brings you comfort for the next five minutes. Meditate by paying attention to your breathing. Or read a chapter in a book. Escape from your thoughts for a few minutes and reset. Your parenting will be better when you’re energized.
