Giving Back is Good for Teens

So you know that volunteering is good for teens, but… like… how good is it for teens? I mean, is it worth giving up the afternoon to volunteer levels of goodness? In a word, yes, even if you only look at the emotional benefits. Giving back brings with it a lower rate of depression, higher levels of happiness, and boosted self-esteem. Teens who volunteer gain a sense of power when they realize they can transform lives and make the world a better place. Teen volunteers are less likely to drink or do drugs. So encourage your child to volunteer!
