First Step to Calm in a Crisis: Move

Your teen is freaking out: what can you do to help? Become a stress coach and get them to break the cycle so they can think. Stress hormones are flooding their body––those same stress hormones that told our ancestors to run when they saw a tiger. So tell your teen to drop what they’re doing and move. Literally. Get up and exercise, even if it’s just to take a walk around the block to calm down. Until they burn through that excess adrenaline, they’re not going to be able to think. So get them calm by getting them moving.
