Use Television Shows To Teach Self-Regulation

Imagine watching a television show where a teen fights with their friend. They storm home upset, obsessively checking their phone for a response to their last text, and lashing out at everyone who gets in their way. Ideally, that episode would conclude with the character learning self-regulation when it comes to feelings and responses. The ability to regulate and control emotions is linked to how well a person manages stress and solves problems. Reality tv stars and teens both need to learn self-regulation. Luckily, we have lessons parents can offer their teens. (Reality tv stars are on their own.)
